EX-MP Dies in Hospital, Leaves Hefty Bill

Former Kigumo MP Onesmus Kihara Mwangi has passed on.

The former legislator died at Nairobi West Hospital on Thursday, November 21, after succumbing to diabetes.

K24 Digital was first to report the sad news, adding that Kihara left a medical bill of Ksh5million.

Incumbent Kigumo MP, Ruth Mwaniki, wrote to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi to help in offsetting the bill.

Kihara served as the Kigumo MP in the years between 1997 to 2007.

The former lawmaker died at the age of 76.

In 1997, Kihara won the seat on a Democratic Party (DP) ticket. He retained the seat in 2002, after vying on a NARC ticket.

Before joining politics, Kihara served as the managing director of Kihara & Company Valuers and Surveyors.
