DCI Raids City Gang's Strategy Meeting at Hideout

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Tuesday, December 10, arrested two teenagers believed to have been terrorising residents of Likoni in Mombasa County.

Abdallah Rashid and Brian Ochieng, both 18-years-old, were believed to be part of a gang of six armed youths who had assembled in preparation to wreak havoc to members of the public.

"Two wanted criminals believed to have been terrorizing residents in Likoni, Mombasa County were earlier yesterday arrested by DCI detectives following a tip-off from members of public," DCI tweeted.

Detectives further revealed that during the raid, they were able to recover two machetes, two slashers, one sword and one metal bar.

The four others managed to escape but a manhunt was launched to bring them to book. Those arrested were are to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.

In a related story, on Tuesday, December 10, detectives in Vihiga arrested two people who were accused of orchestrating an early-morning robbery at Imara Supermarket where one guard was murdered and another seriously injured.

The duo, 34-year-old Edgar Bwamu Kendenge and 40-year-old Jotham Nyabera, was said to have been armed with machetes and other crude weapons.

"Following the early morning attack on two-night guards in a robbery at Imara Supermarket in Chavakali, Vihiga County, where one was murdered and the other seriously injured, two suspects have been arrested and placed in custody," the DCI informed on Twitter.

The two were said to be part of a gang that broke into the supermarket after attacking the deceased; Benson Achega Musanada,48, and 76-year-old James Induli Oluku who was hospitalised.

They went ahead to steal goods of unknown value.

"Vihiga detectives launched a manhunt that has led to the two arrests and detention of a Subaru Legacy suspected to be linked to the robbery. The pursuit of other culprits ongoing," investigators informed.
