Murkomen Confronts Raila in Nyanza [VIDEO]

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday, December 20 asked ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta to clarify what they wanted to be encompassed in the Building Bridges Initiatives report.

Murkomen was addressing mourners, among them Raila, Siaya Senator James Orengo, at the burial of Senator Moses Kajwang's mother in Wuondo, Homa Bay County.

The Elgeyo Marakwet senator advised the former premier to shelve 2022 ambitions and join hands with Deputy President William Ruto in the realisation of the recommendations in the BBI report.

"We want to see Raila and Ruto work together, set aside 2022 and ensure the implementation of the BBI because it is what can transform the country at the moment," Murkomen stated.

He went on to accuse Odinga and President Kenyatta of bearing a hidden agenda in the implementation of the BBI report.

"I want to tell you to stop asking us to reform the constitution yet you have not presented the agenda to us in a proper manner. What do you and President Uhuru Kenyatta want to be included in the BBI?" Murkomen posed.

Murkomen asked Raila and Uhuru to issue a stand on which system of governance they preferred and inform the Senate rather than calling for a referendum.

He argued that the lack of proper direction by their respective leaders was a waste of time.

"Whichever system you prefer, tell it to me, Senator Orengo and we will pass the report. We are your loyal soldiers, whatever you instruct we will abide. Stop taking us in circles," Murkomen remarked.

Murkomen opined that a referendum would burden Kenyans, yet there was a way to achieve whatever the handshake counterparts wanted without it.
