Gifted Brain Behind NTV's 'Auntie Boss' Show

While many might know Eve D'Souza as Vashita in the Auntie Boss series on NTV  as well as Maisha Magic East, not many may be aware that she is also the producer of the popular show.

Through her production house, Moonbeam Productions established in 2011, she had been creating concepts for TV and radio for over nine years.

"Auntie Boss delves into the lives of domestic house helps in a fictional Taifa Estate and their everyday drama as it revolves around the families they work for and activities within the neighbourhood," Moonbeam Production describes the show.

Eve's career started off at Capital FM, where she worked as a presenter between July 2001 and November 2010, a period of close to ten years.

She found herself deep in politics when The National Alliance Party of Kenya (TNA) recruited her to work as President Uhuru Kenyatta's director of media and communication and she was tasked with coming up with creative campaign ideas, communication strategy, PR and branding.

She has been a common feature on TV since 2003 and has hosted a number of shows not only in Kenya but also international, among them Big Brother Africa and Channel O Emcee Battle

Speaking to the Daily Nation in 2017, D'Souza summarized the traits that made her stand out in the work she does.

"Creativity and great imagination are key. Being able to maintain your cool under pressure, being patient with people, being able to juggle a hundred problems at the same time and being able to manage people and keep them happy under very difficult circumstances," she stated.

She also gave a disclaimer to those interested in the film industry, cautioning that it was not an easy venture, but one that was worth it.

"Don’t do it for the money because you will be in for a rude awakening. It is also very tough when you first start out, access to financing is the most stressful part of producing and then getting someone who believes in your idea is another obstacle. All I can say is this is not for the faint-hearted!"

Some other shows by the production house include Njoro wa Uba, Travel Diaries and Mentality.
