DCI Intercepts Suspicious Somalis Aboard Police Vehicle

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday, January 9, arrested three police officers who were found, ferrying foreigners.

The said officers were identified as Constable Ali Hassan, Corporal Ibrahim Abdow and Seargent Simon Kyalo Mwendwa.

Through social media pages, the DCI stated that eight foreigners were being ferried in a government vehicle when they were intercepted.

"Upon intercepting and inspecting the GK lorry which was also ferrying other prison officers attending an annual Prison Sports Competition in Nairobi, six juveniles and two adults all of the Somali origin with no single identification documents were found on board," DCI wrote on Twitter.

Further, the investigative body stated that the lorry was on its way from Garissa to Nairobi and was intercepted at Mutwang'ombe along Mwingi-Garissa Highway. 

They added that a total of Ksh 18,000 suspected to have been paid to the police officers was recovered from the prison seargent.

"The foreigners have also been arrested and are undergoing investigative interviewing," DCI stated.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, January 7, detectives arrested a Dugsi teacher, Nur Hassan Abdi. 

Abdi was accused of escaping to Dhobley in Somalia with over Ksh7 Million belonging to Muslim faithful who were to attend Hajj prayers in 2019.
