Kenyan Star Behind Rappers TI and Iggy Azalea's Grammy-Nominated Hit

Having ruled the airwaves in the country for a significant time, the Logomba Brothers, consisting of Christian and Lovy Logomba relocated to the USA in 2007.

They are well-known for their tunes including "Dondosa" and "Vuta Pumz", tunes that saw them rule the airwaves before their departure.

While things took an unexpected turn for Christian who was diagnosed with a brain tumor that required surgery, Lovy's musical prowess took him into the folds of some of the musical greats of our time.

In 2012, he landed a major chance to work on a track titled Change Your Life that featured American rappers TI (Clifford Harris) and Iggy Azalea, two of the best rappers at the time.

The song, having initially been written by Indian-American songwriter Raja Kumari, was presented to Iggy Azalea's management and was immediately approved.

Once approved, reports from pop magazine XXL indicate that Kumari went on to work with Lovy Logomba on composing the track while Iggy wrote its verses alongside T.I and Natalie Harris.

Azalea worked on the song, between December 2012 and January 2013, aiming to feature it in her debut album The New Classic which debuted in September 2014.

After the song had been completed, Iggy is reported to have considered it a big hit, and way different from what she had done before, a sentiment that was echoed by music critics.

"Previous cuts “Work” and “Bounce”, while brilliant in their own right, lacked the gigantic pop hook needed to conquer US airwaves. Well, that’s been rectified," a statement by Australia pop music magazine Idolator read.

The song, after its release, peaked at number 5 in the Australian urban charts, number 3 in the UK R&B chart, number 34 on the US Billboard charts, and number 10 in the UK Singles Chart.

The album was also certified gold in both the US and Australia, with the latter selling an upward of 35,000 units while over 500,000 were sold in the USA.

The song also landed a Grammy nomination and won the 2014 Boombox Award.

As of February 5, 2020, the song had more than 143 million views on Youtube.
