After the impeachment of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on January 29, various leaders in Kiambu County have been trying to convince Governor James Nyoro to make changes to his Cabinet.
According to a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba, who had for a long time criticised the former governor, tried to hint at the removal of Sports CECM Karungo wa Thang'wa but ended up with an egg on her face.
Residents in Ngewa Ward reiterated their faith on the Sports CECM after she suggested that he could be replaced.
“Because our new governor Nyoro is my friend, I would request him to appoint a person from this area because Karungo wa Thang’wa was part of Waititu's government.
“Because he may not make it back to the Cabinet…or would you like him to be retained in the government?,” asked Gathoni.
However, the crowd responded in unison that they would prefer that Karungo be in the new Cabinet if a reshuffle should be made.
The Sports CECM who was also part of the gathering waded away from the topic, stating that the county ought to move together in unity.
“I would like us to all unite as Kiambu leaders. We need to bring our people together instead of growing hatred amongst them.
“I think I'm not that busy right now and therefore you can send me on peace missions,” remarked Karungo.
He further urged for a quick investigation into the death of Kahawa Wendani MCA Cyrus Omondi, adding that the county had lost a great leader.
“After Omondi passed on, everyone rushed to say it was a heart attack even without proof of the cause of death.
“I would like to urge our county assembly speaker and other leaders in the county to help in the investigation process in order for the county residents to get the truth behind Omondi’s death,” added Karungo.
