Details have emerged that Deputy President William Ruto has ordered an emergency staff meeting at his Karen office as investigations into former CS Rashid Echesa's alleged military scandal hots up.

According to a report by People Daily on Wednesday, February 19, the DP reportedly made the summon after police officers quizzed some employees from Harambee House Annex in connection with the scandal which alleged a plan to defraud a Polish military equipment dealer.

The meeting was reportedly scheduled to take place on the morning of Wednesday, February 19.

“We have been told to report to Karen tomorrow (today) morning. The boss (DP) wants to meet the staff over the issue,” the publication quoted a source scheduled to attend the meeting.

This came at a time when more arrests are expected, according to Daily Nation, as investigations into the matter by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations digs deeper.

The revelations emerged after the DCI grilled employees from Ruto's CBD office after reviewing CCTV footage from Thursday, February 13, the day Echesa was arrested and roped in two unidentified aides of the DP.

Surveillance footage obtained by investigators showed that Echesa, accompanied by two representatives of Eco Advanced Technologies LLC, had arrived at Harambee House Annex on Thursday, February 13, at 9.39 a.m. before they left 23 minutes later.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Emmanuel Talaam, a representative from the DP's communications office, disclosed that he was not in the know of any planned crisis meeting.

"I am not aware of any such meeting," he curtly stated.

Echesa was arrested and charged alongside three other individuals; Daniel Otieno Omondi, Clifford Okoth Onyango and Kennedy Oyoo.

It is believed that more than five aides of the DP might find themselves behind bars in connection with the fraudulent procurement scheme which was estimated to be worth Ksh40 billion.
