The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has informed that a busy section of the dual carriageway of the Southern bypass at Lang'ata NHC Flyover will be closed for two days.
In a statement released on February 19, 2020, KURA announced that on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, the road will be closed to facilitate repairs due.
"The closure will be in order to facilitate the removal of formwork below the bridge deck and the installation of the PVC downpipes for drainage on the ongoing Langata-Ngong Road Link," the notice reads.
KURA further informed that the closure would be effected in the hours starting six in the morning and ending six in the evening every day.
It advised motorists heading to Western and to Mombasa Road to use alternative routes as will be designated by the traffic marshalls.
KURA urged cooperation from motorists during the closure to ensure that the repair activities take place as planned.
"We appreciate the support, cooperation, and understanding of the public as we endeavor to modernize our urban road infrastructure for efficient transport," the statement concluded.
The closure by KURA is part of an ongoing repair of roads in the city, many of which were affected by recent heavy rains that pounded the entire country.
On February 18, KURA conducted a site meeting for the rehabilitation of the 3km Kasarani- Mwiki Road alongside the Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
Five days earlier, it had given room for companies to bid for the contract to rehabilitate the 3.6 kilometers stretch, with the deadline being February 27, 2020.
