A group of 500 internal auditors working with the National Treasury have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and ensure that they get job promotions.
Through a representative, the workers presented their case to the President outlining that they had stagnated in the same position for six years and an upgrade to the next job group was due.
They added that they were qualified for the promotions as they had advanced their education levels.
The group explained that they had been left out in a recent recruitment where 944 accountants, finance officers, budget officers and drivers were promoted by the Treasury.
A senior official at National Treasury had earlier indicated the auditors were left out as the Ministry of Finance and National Treasury plans to decentralise them to other ministries, unlike the current situation where they are seconded to ministries.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the Directorate of Accounting Services and Quality Assurance maintained that the auditors were acting in their own capacity and distanced the Ministry from the plea.
