A United States couple is now paying a hefty price after admitting to brutally murdering a Kenyan citizen who was residing in the country in May 2019.
According to a report by Daily Nation, Regis Kindred, 30, who pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of Alex Oyombe Gradin, a Kenyan student, was handed life imprisonment.
He was also given the option of parole only after serving 25 years behind bars.
Kailee Von Foster, 29, who was an accomplice in the murder, pleaded guilty for second-degree manslaughter and was condemned to three years behind bars.
Foster admitted that she had played a role in the murder by being the getaway driver.
The ruling was made on Thursday, February 20.
Police had responded to 911 calls about gunshots that had been heard at Kincaid, 894 E. 13th Avenue.
When they arrived on the scene, they found the deceased with a life-threatening injury from a gunshot and their attempt at saving him through first aid bore no fruits as he died at the scene.
The police later ruled the killing as a case of mistaken identity.
The couple, during a past proceeding, begged for forgiveness from the family of Gradin with Kindred, who was part of a gang identified as Rollin 60s, explaining that he had mistaken the deceased as belonging to a rival Hoover Gang before he shot him.
