Central Organization of Trade Unions (Kenya) Chairman Francis Atwoli, on Saturday, February 22, announced that President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga would not be stopped from forming the next government.

Speaking at the William ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok during a BBI rally, the vocal COTU boss was adamant that Uhuru was not going to retire in 2022, adding that the president would team up with Raila in order to continue spearheading his agenda for the country

"I want to tell Sabina Chege and governor Waiguru, that there's nothing that will stop Uhuru from partnering with Raila in the new government under a new constitution in order to complete his agenda for the country," he announced.

Atwoli went on to state that by June this year, the country will have already undertaken a referendum that will usher in a new constitution.

"Something tells me that by mid-year, once we are done with these BBI rallies, we will then hold a referendum, and we will be governed under new laws henceforth," he stated.

The COTU boss went on to state that the BBI proponents -including himself, were looking forward to forming part of the next government's inner circle, going on to predict that Kenyans would overwhelmingly vote for a new constitution.

"We are making a new constitution for ourselves. I lead more than 4 million Kenyan workers and we are ready to take to the streets to protect the government of Kenya," he reiterated.

He went on to urge president Uhuru to step in and protect his citizens, from cold-blooded murders.

"Uhuru should protect his country. Our children are being killed in people's offices because of 2022 politics," claimed the COTU boss.

The heated Narok BBI rally in which area senator Ledama ole Kina sparked a national debate with his remark regarding Maasai's and their alleged exclusive right to land in the county, drew a lot of criticism from Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking at Thiru Secondary School in Laikipia West on Saturday, the DP condemned what he termed as divisive politics.

"I am the deputy president of this country and I want to assure Kenya that they are free to do business everywhere in this country," he stated.

"We will not allow this country to be divided along tribal lines like has happened there before," he reiterated, adding that the Senator's comments were primitive, criminal and foolish.

"We know who is behind this scheme and as leaders, we will stop him. There is no way that one man can dictate to us where we will do business or contest for any political seat," DP Ruto announced.

The DP was accompanied by former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and several other legislators during his funds drive in the region.
