Supreme Court Judge Smokin Wanjala is receiving treatment in an Indian hospital after he contracted a deadly virus.
Confirming the sad news on Wednesday, February 26, Chief Justice David Maraga stated that Wanjala was hospitalised and undergoing treatment for the H1N1-Swine flu.
He further explained that the disease had affected six Indian Supreme Court Judges.
"Hon Justice Smokin Wanjala, who is in India for a Judicial conference, is hospitalised and is undergoing treatment for the H1N1-Swine flu which also affected 6 Indian Supreme Court Judges," he stated.
He, however, noted that the judge was making great progress in his treatment.
"The Judge is making great progress and maybe discharged today. Wish him a speedy recovery," added Maraga.
Germany broadcaster Deutche Welle indicated that one of the six Supreme Court judges of India had arrived at the institution while wearing a mask.
Symptoms of the H1N1-Swine flu are reportedly similar to those of Coronavirus in that the patient experiences fever and chills.
The Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde was reportedly concerned with the outbreak and a number of services provided by the Supreme court were expected to be suspended.
As a result, Indian government was planning to set up 'a dispensary in the Supreme Court for inoculation and vaccination,' according to Supreme Court Bar Association President Dushyant Dave.
