The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has informed that a busy section of the dual carriageway of the Southern Bypass at Lang'ata National Housing Corporation (NHC) Flyover will be closed for two days.

In a statement released on March 5, 2020, KURA announced that on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, the road section would be closed to facilitate repairs.

"The closure will be in order to facilitate the removal of formwork below the bridge deck and the installation of the PVC drainage downpipes on the ongoing Langata-Ngong Road Link," the notice reads.

KURA further informed that the closure would be effected in the hours starting 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the two days.

The urban roads body advised motorists heading to Western and to Mombasa Road to use alternative routes as will be designated by traffic marshalls stationed along the road.

KURA asked cooperation from motorists during the closure to ensure that the repair activities take place as planned.

"We appreciate the support, cooperation, and understanding of the public as we endeavour to modernize our urban road infrastructure for efficient transport," the statement concluded.

Repair works have been ongoing on the road for over one month, with the previous closure of the same roads being on February 22 and 23, to facilitate the same exercise.

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority has been conducting infrastructural repairs along major roads not only in Nairobi but also across the country.

On March 4, 2020, they cleared structures that were along Ngong Road which they termed as illegally erected.
