Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro on Wednesday, March 18, gave President Uhuru Kenyatta advice on how to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement on his social media, Nyoro requested the president to order a total lockdown in the country to prevent the spread of the virus.

"We better be grounded for a week than be grounded later when we'll have paid a higher price. We must borrow from the Chinese," Nyoro stated.

He added that people using public transport were at a higher risk of contracting the disease due to crowded spaces.

"We must think hard about ferry services and public transport - there's a very weak link there. These are desperate times and we must institute far-reaching and hard stances," he stated.

He advised the president to have all chiefs in the country stock food for the people living in their locations.

"All relief food must find their way to chiefs' offices across the country to support the many Kenyans who will not be able to attend their usual kibarua," he recommended.

He commended the government for being proactive in dealing with the virus.

Some of Nyoro's followers were not too pleased with his sentiments and took to the comment section to express their thoughts.

"The president will not read your Facebook post, most probably you just want us to see that you had suggested this so that when it's done you will gain credit. Come with a solution on how Kenyans who live from hand to mouth will survive the lockdown," Njeri Njoroge advised.

"It's a good idea mheshimiwa but you have channelled it in the wrong place. Either you make a call to the president or write him a letter because the president is not online," Okwaro weighed in.

"The problem with tanga tanga is giving solutions on social media. How do you address the president on Facebook, is that how u address Deputy President William Ruto?" Kibichoi questioned.

"Mheshimiwa you can't compare our country with superpower countries like the US, we feed on hand to mouth my brother so please, because you are part of this government, just play your part and we play ours," Macharia commented.

The president on Wednesday, March 18, warned business owners against hiking prices to reap profits.

“To our traders and supermarkets, do your business but do it justly, no one is opposed to you making profits but indeed it is highly immoral if you take advantage of an unfortunate situation to make huge profits,”he stated.

While speaking to banking sector stakeholders, the head of state warned that the government had begun a crackdown on unscrupulous traders who were hiking the prices of essential products.
