Blogger Dennis Itumbi has angered a section of Kenyans after intimating that one of ODM leader Raila Odinga's daughter was sick.

Itumbi, in a tweet to Raila Junior on Monday, March 24, asked him to wish his sibling a quick recovery.

"Pass my quick recovery wishes to your sister. She will be in my prayers. May God stretch His healing hand on her," Itumbi stated.

While responding, Junior stated that Itumbi was better placed to contact the family directly rather than publicize the matter on social media.

He further insinuated that it was not the right time to pass across such information.

"We appreciate but you have our call. Such a moment, such news raises eyebrows!" Junior stated.

A section of Kenyans was not pleased by Itumbi's sentiments and took to the comment section to express their anger.

"You didn't need to use a microphone for this. Take the phone and call Raila Junior. The timing is misleading because someone may have normal sickness but easier for a 3rd party reading this now to think about Coronavirus, which is not the case," Silas Jakakimba stated.

"A kind way of broadcasting to the world that baba's daughter is sick, which can be an ordinary sickness but your timing meant for people to speculate Coronavirus,"  one Mohammed weighed in.

"Must you publicize it?" Mulatya Dominic wondered.

"Why are you taking it upon yourself to announce his sister is sick?" Omollo questioned.

"You sound insensitive sometimes. With corona pandemic in town, you should think twice," Steve Jay cautioned.

This comes days after Itumbi was fired from his state job as the director digital, innovation and diaspora communications (PSCU).

Besides Itumbi's, other positions scrapped are senior director, communication (Events & Branding) formerly held by James Kinyua, senior director, communications (speech writing) formerly held by lawyer Eric Ng’eno, and principal information officer (head of digital strategies) formerly held by John Ndolo.

Itumbi and his colleagues are believed to have had a fall out with the president long before their sacking.
