Mähne, an old German man has been reduced to begging in the streets of Diani after being swindled of Ksh. 6 million by his lover.

His girlfriend swept his house in Diani clean and made away with property worth Ksh6 million leaving Mähne with no choice but to turn to the streets.

Mähne has donned the same clothes, a shirt and jeans shorts for the last five months with most of the residents of Diani now getting accustomed to him.

He arrived into the country back in 2018 and fell in love with a lady who after only a year turned his life upside down by making away with all his fortunes.

The 69-year-old's thirst for love was however not quenched as he tried his luck again and went as far as paying school fees for two children of his new lover.

As he struggles to speak in English, Mähne tried to explain his story in an interview with KTN on Tuesday, March 31, "I travelled to Kenya and met these ladies, we were friends maybe one year, one year and a half."

Mähne has not eaten for the last two days a situation that has left him weak to the point that he has started losing his voice.

The German also had a container in his home packed with goods worth millions which the lover stole together with his passport.

Asked how much he has lost, Mähne had this to say, "It's like very much money, after this, she stole goods in the container, I saw this lady is not good and thought maybe have a second, I took a trip to Nairobi and came back, the lady had stolen again."

It has been five months since he recorded a statement at Diani Police Station but nothing has been done to assist him.

The police officers in Diani confirm that the German had filed a complaint and have a hint of the whereabouts of Mähne's lover.

He went on to add that he only has two items left in his house, "I have no more things left, just plastic for sitting and one bed. I would like the police to give me back everything I had and I will be very happy."

His begging in the streets exposes him to the risk of Covid-19 which is known to claim the elderly more as compared to youths.
