The body of a 21-year-old girl identified as Priscilla, who is enrolled at the United States International University (USIU) was discovered in her apartment along Mirema Drive, off Thika Superhighway.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a neighbour who preferred anonymity detailed the events leading up to her death.

"On Monday, April 13, she hosted a couple of guys at her place for a party which went well into the wee hours of the morning.

Her guests left the following day just before the 7 p.m curfew, but no one made anything of it at the time," he narrated.

According to the source, the caretaker of the apartments, popular with student tenants, was worried about having not seen the girl for close to 24 hours after her guests had left.

He then decided to check up on her on Wednesday evening, April 15, only to find her door was unlocked.

Upon walking into the unusually quiet apartment, he stumbled on her lifeless body which was sprawled out on her living room floor.

The police were immediately alerted to the scene, where the reportedly found bottles of codeine (an opiate used to treat pain, but mostly abused as a stimulant), as well as several rolls of bhang.

She is suspected to have overdosed on the drugs, with police informing the residents that formal investigations had been launched to establish what exactly killed her.

Our source went on to disclose that codeine usage was prevalent in the area, adding that they had lost another student earlier on in the year under similar circumstances.

"Codeine is being sold out in the open like water, we lost another one just the other day," he stated.

It is yet to be established why authorities weren't notified of the party that led to her death, due to the current directive of a ban on all forms of gatherings to combat the spread of Covid-19.

The caretaker and several neighbours were questioned on the same, as the police try to establish what exactly happened to the young lady.
