A disturbing feature aired on Citizen TV in April 2020, showed the horrible conditions that a section of Kenyans was subjected to while living in China.
In the report, a number of Kenyans who had become victims of racial profiling had been evicted from their apartments. Among them was Ann Wanjiku Kamau who was forced to sleep in the streets after she was ejected from her house.
Wanjiku and her one-year-old baby had nowhere to turn to as they slept outside for a number of nights in China before putting up with a friend.

After jetting in following an airfare intervention by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Wanjiku narrated the challenges she went through in the foreign city.
"My child and I had been denied entry into our house so I had nowhere to go. I got a friend who accommodated us for some time.
She added, "I was financially drained because I had not been at work since January, and being with a child was not easy. I went through a lot, I have cried so many times, being helpless."
After receiving calls for assistance, the Nairobi Governor announced that he would pay the airfare for some of the Kenyans stranded in China to travel back.
The Kenya Airways flight took off from Guangzhou, China on Sunday, May 8, with 160 citizens, among them 10 whose airfare was paid for by the governor.
Among those who were catered for, were Wanjiku and her child who had emailed Sonko about her dire situation.
The single mother of one expressed her gratitude to the governor who came to her aid in a video message.
"Thank you to the governor for reuniting me with my family. Everyone here is thankful to you for bringing me back home," she stated.
The Governor in response called for everyone to do whatever little they could to support one another during the difficult times.
"Ann Wanjiku Kamau I have just watched your video clip. From wherever you are, just continue to thank God. I did not know you, I have never met you, as you reunite with the rest of your family, let what you have been undergoing in China be a testimony on how God's miracles work," he posted on his social media.
