Orange Democratic Movement under Raila Odinga on Thursday, May 14 held a meeting on the latest developments on Covid-19.

The meeting was held between the Party's top leadership and parliamentary leadership in both the Senate and National Assembly.

The meeting was an informal one chaired by Raila Odinga to review and upraise the latest developments in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

ODM members present in the meeting pledged their support towards the Government’s in mitigation of the deadly virus and speedy return to normalcy.

The Kenyan economy has taken a hit since the pandemic hit the country in early March with the Ministry of Labour on Wednesday, May 13 estimating that over 1.2 million Kenyans have lost their jobs.

As the country looks to resume some sense of normalcy the meeting also discussed the Government quick embark on a recovery strategy that will assuage the damage visited on the People and our Economy by the Pandemic.

A number of Kenyans have gone back to their places of work with traffic jams being witnessed on various roads in Nairobi.

The party meeting also touched on measures which must be put in place to cushion the most vulnerable in society during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The meeting urged the government to pay special attention to the situation of the pours borderline with Tanzania which has become a major concern.

With healthcare workers issuing a strike notice on Monday, May 18 the meeting discussed the evolving situation with health care workers who threaten to go on strike so that we do not exacerbate an already bad situation.

Present in the meeting was Edwin Sifuna, John Mbadi, Junet Mohamed, James Orengo among other members.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 convened a virtual meeting with leaders from the region to discuss measures to cushion the region from Covid-19.
