Well-wishers have come to the aid of a woman whose story was highlighted by activist Boniface Mwangi on his social media page.

The woman, only known as Wambui, was living in deplorable conditions in Korogocho slums before the activist shared her story, after which she received overwhelming support from well-wishers.

In a video posted by Boniface on Tuesday, May 19, Wambui couldn't hide her joy, when money contributed by well-wishers was used to construct her a new home.

On top of that, she received a new bed, utensils, mattress and a seat.

"I would want to thank all those who have helped me and may they be blessed," an excited Wambui stated.

Before, Wambui was living in a roofless house, where she and her child would get rained on and had to put up with the cold weather, especially during the night.

Her household items were wet and electricity wires had not been properly installed, putting them in danger.

The mother indicated that she was unemployed, adding that her family had been suffering and called upon well-wishers to help her.

At the time when the country is struggling to combat the Covid-19 disease, thousands of families are living in vulnerable conditions and cannot even afford a meal.

Just recently, a number of families were forced to sleep in the cold after they were evicted from their homes in Ruai at night.

The demolitions, which caused an uproar among Kenyans, came days after more than 7,000 residents in the area lost their property and were left homeless after their houses were demolished in a bid to reclaim the land.
