South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro and his Kimili counterpart Didmus Barasa on Thursday, May 21 claimed that their lives and those of a number of MPs were in danger.

The two, among others affiliated to the Tanga Tanga faction of the Jubilee Party, called for a press conference at Parliament Buildings to expose the alleged death threats that Barasa told Kenyans.co.ke were meant to intimidate them for supporting Deputy President William Ruto.

"This nefarious scheme shall be undertaken using the now-familiar tactics of intimidation, blackmail and extortion of judicial officers and members of the National Assembly.

"Threats of recall and removal, threats to life, withdrawal of personal security targeted harassment of family members including spouses and children are among the many dangerous and illegal means that security agencies intend to use to achieve their ends," Osoro, who read the statement on their behalf, stated.

The South Mugirango MP noted that National Assembly Members have reported credible threats to their lives to the DCI yet nothing was done by way of meaningful investigations.

He went on to add that they are aware of plans to eliminate certain members of Parliament in retaliation as a warning to others about their political views.

Osoro also revived the reports of a planned assassination on William Ruto that was exposed by Dennis Itumbi back in July 2019.

"You will recall that reports of threats to the life of Deputy President have never been investigated for nearly a year, instead there has been a lot of diversion activity and intimidation as part of the cover-up.

"Mr Dennis Itumbi was arrested and detained at length only to be charged with obscure and irrelevant offences," noted Osoro.

Barasa when reached by Kenyans.co.ke claimed he had received the theats personally.

"The threats are clear even death threats, sacking, intimidation. We have heard them say they are going to recall nominated Members of Parliament.

"If there is something that we are planning that remains our secret, but we will continue doing what we are doing, today, tomorrow and the day thereafter," he asserted.
