A video showing a woman believed to be Kawira Mwangaza, the Meru Woman Representative, and her family members being roughed up by police officers, has surfaced the internet.
In the one minute and six seconds video, commotion is witnessed between police officers and individuals, that Kawira claimed were her family members.
A man, who was already on the ground, was surrounded by officers who were dragging him while Kawira's team strived to stop them.
The whole time, the woman rep was shouting at the top of her voice as a man used his camera to capture the moment on his phone.
One of the officers who was surrounding the man spotted the cameraman and in haste, went up to him and asked why he was recording.
"Why are you recording?" the officer is heard angrily asking as he struggles to take the device away from him.
The cameraman defended himself saying that he was on duty and recording such incidences was part of his job.
Having none of it, the officer forcefully tried to grab the phone but was unable to.
The cause of the commotion between the two parties is yet to be known.
However, taking to her social media pages, Kawira alleged that she and her family had been attacked by officers sent by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi.

The video has surfaced at a time when police brutality has faced condemnation from Kenyans and the world in general.
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 4, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) maintained that it supported officers in maintaining law and order but would not hesitate to act in accordance with its mandate, on the few bad elements that break the same laws they are supposed to enforce.
