A couple and their child were on Saturday, June 13, rushed to hospital after their vehicle collided with an oncoming vehicle on Langata road.
The three were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Langata, having incurred grave injuries.
The vehicle that rammed into the couple's Mercedes had a learner sticker, indicating that a learner might have been training on the road.
Lang'ata sub-county police commander Gregory Mutiso confirmed the incident that caused a traffic snarl-up on Saturday afternoon on the path leading to Langata road.
Residents in the area want the government to erect speed bumps to prevent more accidents in the future.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority on April 23, 2020, 954 people have perished on Kenyan roads since January, an increase of 0.1 per cent from 2019, where 953 people died.
Of the 954 casualties, 367 were pedestrians followed by motorcyclists at 238 deaths and 156 passengers.
The Authority noted that reckless driving remains the most common cause of road accidents.
NTSA further established that four out of every five crashes in the country could be attributed to human error and brake failure.
