Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Tuesday, June 23, met up with Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot.
In a statement posted by Khalwale on his Facebook page, he alleged that he and Aukot were discussing issues affecting the country.
"Accompanied by the Chairman of Punguza Mizigo, Dr. Ekuru Aukot joined me this morning for consultations over a cup of tea. Agenda, Kenya," reads Khalwale's statement.
Their meeting did not augur well with Thirdway Alliance Secretary-General, Fredrick Tshombe Okang'o, who stated that he would not allow Aukot to auction the party for selfish reasons.
He speculated that Khalwale either wanted to use Punguza Mzigo to discredit the Building Bridges Initiative or wanted to form a coalition with the party ahead of the 2022 general elections.
"As a party, we are made to understand that today Ekuru Aukot met Tanga Tanga point man Mr.Khalwale with intentions of working together in 2022. Let it be known to him and any other person that our party shall not be auctioned neither shall it be used for selfish gain," he stated.
Okango's statement came days after the Political Parties and Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) declared as null and void a decision by Thirdway Alliance Kenya party to expel him.
The sec-gen was suspended on February 25 after alleging that the party had joined the Building Bridges Initiative bandwagon.
Aukot accused Okango of contradicting the party position which was to re-launch the Punguza Mizigo initiative.
Okango had then petitioned against his expulsion and in March, he was reinstated pending the hearing and determination of the case.
