Citizen TV aired a feature dubbed Virus Safaris on Sunday, June 21 that highlighted how easy it was to breach the cessation of movement set.

Purity Mwambia, Citizen TV investigative reporter travelled from Nairobi to Eldoret using a personal car together with the cameraman.

In her feature, she exposed how easy it was to move around the roadblocks by alighting from the car and either walking past the police officers or taking a motorbike.

She uncovered the workings of the driver who collaborated with a number of people to move past the roadblocks especially at Mai Mahiu where the car was driven to past the police by a different man.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, April 6 announced the cessation of movement in and out the Nairobi Metropolitan area.

Roadblocks were erected at Athi River, Katani Road, Kambulu,  Bluepost, Garissa road,  Uplands, Rironi, Ngong, Kiserian, Isinya and Ting'ang'a to cordon off the Nairobi Metropolitan area.

The roadblocks, however, have not been effective as a number have managed to sneak in and out of Nairobi by using alternative routes or bribing their way past roadblocks.

A number of Covid-19 infections that have been spread to other counties have been as a result of people sneaking out of Nairobi and Mombasa which are under the cessation of movement order.
