UPDATE: The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday, June 29, announced the re-opening of the Huduma Center GPO offices to handle the issuance of Police Clearance Certificates.
"Police Clearance Certificate services at Huduma Kenya GPO will resume tomorrow as from 8 a.m. This service will be available each working day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Clients are reminded to book an appointment and to observe the Ministry of Health (MoH) directives on the prevention of COVID-19," reads the statement sent out by the DCI in part.
The latest notice comes a week after DCI announced the resumption of the same service at their headquarter located along Kiambu Road.
"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations will be resuming issuance of Police Clearance Certificates (Certificate of Good Conduct) effectively tomorrow, Thursday 24th June 2020.
"However, we have come up with new guidelines to be observed in the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic," read the statement in part.
In the statement, Directorate of Criminal Investigations announced that the services will resume on Thursday, June 25, and urged the public who wish to collect their certificates of good conduct to visit their offices.
The new guidelines include attending to 600 clients daily from 7 am to 4 pm to comply with the social distancing rule imposed by the Ministry of Health.
DCI admitted to having a backlog of over 37,751 pending applications which they intend to process expeditiously.
All applicants who chose the DCI headquarters for fingerprinting will have to log in to their official website and book an appointment indicating the date and exact time that you will be attended to.
Only those with appointments and those who arrive at the designated time will be allowed past the gate.
Due to the cessation of movement order, the services are only available to those in Nairobi but DCI is working to extend services to other branches.
The new guidelines also only apply to those getting the services at DCI and not at Huduma Centres around the country.
Government services have started to gradually resume their services with the courts also reopening their doors.
