Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has accused Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi of taking advantage of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's impeachment motion to oust him from the party.

Malala was speaking on Saturday, June 27, while being accorded with a hero's welcome following his return to Kakamega after chairing Waiguru's Senate impeachment motion.

"What puzzles me is why Musalia had to wait till when the whole world is watching me and waiting for my decision to expel me from the party.

"They should stop being jealous, when God has opened a way, he would be content with what God has planned," noted Malala.

Malala was ousted from ANC on Friday, June 26, on account of gross misconduct as he was also accused of sidelining the party even after helping him clinch the Senator's seat in the 2017 General Election.

The Senator found himself in the ANC’s bad books after he supported the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth in the Kibra by-elections.

Malala who chaired a committee probing the embattled Governor Ann Waiguru on Friday cleared her of culpability over impeachment charges levelled against her by members of the Kirinyaga County Assembly.

The former Mahiakalo MCA, however, vowed to continue with war against ANC and urged Kakamega residents to stick with him ahead of his move.

"I am thankful that I am back home and I will continue fighting with 'those people', you all know that I'm not a coward.

"I will give you a direction because I have been expelled from their party, I will look for another party and I ask that you move with me," he stated.

Malala on Saturday, June 28 also met Devolution CS, Hon. Eugène Wamalwa, Governors; Oparanya, Otichilo, Ojaamong and Wangamati to map out and chart a development plan for the Luhya people.

Among the issues discussed were the revival of the sugar industry, erecting of the River Nzoia check dam, upgrading of the Kakamega airstrip, setting up of Kakamega-Bungoma water project and the granite and gold smelting industries in the region.
