Several employees at Mediamax Network Limited, the company that owns K24 TV and Milele FM among other popular stations, have been ordered to self-isolate after one of their colleagues tested positive for Covid-19 after exhibiting mild symptoms.

In a memo seen by Kenyans.co.ke, signed by Mediamax CEO Ken Ngaruiya on Sunday, July 12, confirmed that an employee from the finance department had contracted the virus.

To keep employees safe from the virus, the company has announced a raft measures including instructing close contacts of the positive case to self-isolate for 14-days.

The third floor of the company offices at Longonot Place, Nairobi, has been cordoned off till Tuesday, July 14, and an arranged fumigation of the building has been ordered.

The company has assigned a medical service provider to handle all matters regarding any Covid-19 cases and this includes medication and any guidance related to quarantine.

Mediamax is also exploring options to have the office decongested in order to further promote social distancing between employees.

Strengthened measures have also been adopted to enhance precaution by monitoring and controlling entry into their office facility.

The media house has initiated the process of contact tracing to ensure that others that may have been exposed are advised accordingly.

Employees have been advised to adhere to the Ministry of Health prevention and control measures for the disease and they have also been called upon to help in contact tracing.

Mediamax becomes the second media house to report a Covid-19 case after two staffers from Kenya Broadcasting Corporation tested positive on Monday, July 6.

This comes after the country recorded 189 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, July 13, 12 deaths which was the highest number in 24-hours and 65 recoveries.
