CS Kagwe Showers Praise on 4 Doctors for Outstanding Work

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Thursday, July 16, showered praises on four health workers and a driver in Nakuru for their outstanding work in the fight against Covid-19 in the country.

Speaking during the Covid-19 briefing a Nakuru, Kagwe acknowledged that the five had done exemplary work in their various fields in the fight against covid-19.

To begin with, he acknowledged Dr Angelina Ithondeka, a pediatrician, who trained other health workers on how to how to deal with Covid-19 patients.

"She was key in developing a six-point hospital plan to cover Covid-19 preparedness," Kagwe lauded.

Secondly, he praised Jacob Rotich, a county epidemiologist, for establishing and mentoring survelliance teams. 

Third, he acknowledged Sarah Mosop who has inspired other health workers to join the team handling Covid-19 cases. Kagwe noted that she had shown exceptional selflessness in service to humanity.

The forth medic acknowledged by Kagwe was Jonathan Orinda, a clinical officer who has been available to collect more than 3,000 samples and train other medics.

Finally, the CS celebrated a driver who had consistently ferried samples to the National Public Health lab in Nairobi on a daily basis.

Despite being at a higher risk of contracting the disease, health care workers have continued to be at the fore front in the fight against covid-19.

So far, the ministry has announced that 450 health workers have tested positive to date.

At the same time, Kagwe announced that 421 more covid-19 cases had been recorded in the country bringing the total number of cases to 11,673.

He added that eight more had succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number to 217. The country also recorded the highest single-day recoveries at 570 with total recovies standing at 3,638.
