Several Kenyans have received help from well-wishers after their plights are highlighted on social media platforms especially in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, where thousands of families are struggling to make ends meet.

Such Kenyans depict the lives of thousands who are struggling to get daily meals or have been evicted from their homes after failing to pay rent.

In April, 2020, a woman by the moniker Shiks Purity on Facebook commented on one of Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko's posts and requested to be aided with food and sanitary towels.

"Can someone please assist me with foodstuff and sanitary towels. My mum, sisters and I are suffering a lot because we are not getting day to day jobs," she wrote.

Touched by her request, the governor reached out to her and sent the Sonko Rescue Team with wellfare packages.

Yet again, in May 2020, well-wishers came to the aid of a woman whose story was highlighted by activist Boniface Mwangi on his social media page.

The woman, only known as Wambui, was living in deplorable conditions in Korogocho slums when a number of Kenyans contributed and built her a home.

"I would want to thank all those who have helped me and may they be blessed," she expressed.
