There was tension in Eldoret town on Saturday morning, July 25, after boda boda riders took to the streets to protest the death of their sacco chairman who was found murdered in his home.
The deceased, Ibrahim Murgor, was the son of late President Daniel Arap Moi's commander escort, Charles Kimurgor.
Murgor was allegedly attacked when he was on his way home. His assailants are said to have strangled him using a wire, before throwing his body into a maize plantation.
Additionally, witnesses indicated that some parts of his body had been mutilated.
His wife, Christine Ong'ayo, stated that her husband was a hardworking and dedicated man, who always put the needs of his family first.
Further, she stated that she had been in constant communication with him until 8 pm when her calls went unanswered.
"I had called him in the evening, but he said that he was busy at the police station and would come home early. Later in the night my calls were not going through and my messages were unanswered," she stated.
Angered by the happenings, boda boda riders took to the streets to stop police officers from taking the deceased's body to the mortuary.
Murgor was vocal in championing for the rights of boda boda operators in Uasin Gishu County.
Police officers have since launched investigations so as to establish what could have caused the death of the 56-year-old.
His body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
