11 Areas Expected to Experience 8-Hour Power Blackout

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in sections of 11 Counties on Tuesday, July 28.

In a statement on Monday, Kenya Power indicated that the blackout would begin from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in some areas and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in others.

The counties that will be affected by the blackout include; Nairobi, Kiambu, Kericho, Homa Bay, Nyamira, Nyeri, Isiolo, Embu, Laikipia, Mombasa and Kilifi.

In Nairobi, areas that will be affected include; Mwiki Estate in areas around the shopping centre and adjucent customers. 

Thigiri will also be affected in areas around; Redhill Road, Redhill Drive, Thigiri Farm Road, Thigiri Rise, Redhill Gardens and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, the areas that will be affected in Posta, Redhill include; Kabuku Water, Fairy Flowers, Terasol Limited, Sovereign suits, Limuru County Club, Tigoni, St. Andrews Road, St Georges Road, Birth Day Road.

Others include; Chesire Home, Braken Hurst, Benedictine Fathers, St Julian's, Red Hill One, St. Pauls University, Melion, Red Hill Villas, 2020 Estate, Tropical Heat Limited, Zerentry, Red Hill Flowers, Wandue Farm, Mount Olive, Flora Delight, Sara Rosen, Moo Lito Diaries, Eva's Gardens and The Retreat.

Parts of Kahawa Wendani, Matopeni Road, Kahawa Downs, Hamburger, Boma Heights, West Ridge, Mamaland, Emidan, Unity Courts Town and those adjacent to the buildings will also be affected.

In Kericho County, the areas that are exoected to get a black out include; Nyagacho market, Sanik Diaries, Bible College, Kericho High School, Kakiptui, Ogirgir and Ainamoi Quarry.

In Homa Bay County, the affected areas include; Kangir, Osika, Alego Kamser, Pala Market, Pala Prisons, Sombre, Kanyakutu, Wangwe, Sangla, Arosi, Lower Kamuga, Homahills, Nyangwete, Ugenya, Kasibosi and Jonyo.

In Nyamira County; Sakwa primary, Gitare primary and secondary.

Areas that will be affected in Nyeri County include; Kagongo, Gathambari, Chinga Girls, Kiru T/Fact, Chinga T/Fact, GatunguruT/Fact, Kamagoko, Kairo, Kiamututuri, Mathioya, Mioro, Gacharageini, Mucharage, Kiriti Girls, Kiambuthia, Kihoya Nyagatugu, Wanjerere, Gichichi, Gitundu, Chinga Boys, Omwasco Chinga Dam, Kagicha market, Mariogoretti, Ruirire, Mahira, Gikurwe, Kiinu, Ruthiruini, Iganjo, Kariko, Kiandumba, Giathaimo, Ciaguamba, Matiringo, Kianjai, Kahuaga, Kiganjo, Kahiagira, Muringaini, Kiambaa and Muirugi Secondary.

In Mombasa, Shanzu Severin and Kahamas areas will face blackouts while the same will happen in Kilifi, Mambruis anad Marereni areas.

Parts of Mutunyi in Isiolo, Gatondo and Muchonoke in Embu, Kongoni, Umande and Kangaita in Laikipia, will all be affected.

Most Kenya power outages are usually scheduled and prior brief could help one from lost of stored food, loss of work time and  in the least, boredom to many.
