Reports indicated that the fourth passenger was a police officer based at Sololo.

Moyale hospital CEO Kussu Abduba on Thursday, October 8, stated that the bodies had undergone a postmortem and had since been released to the families for burial.

Marsabit County Police Commander Samuel Mutunga also confirmed the incident.

Accidents have been on the increase since President Uhuru Kenyatta eased the dusk-to-dawn curfew.

Still on Wednesday, 25 mourners, who were on their way to bury a kin sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident.

The accident occurred along Nandi Hills -Chepsangor road with initial reports indicating that the driver was speeding.

"The vehicle was carrying mourners when the accident occurred, but no one lost his life," a correspondent told kenyans.co.ke.

The government is stiffening measures to reduce road accidents in the country to ensure lives are not lost on the roads.

As part of the measures, the government launched the Nurse in Hand Highway Emergency Response Centre at Delamare, Naivasha.

Nurse in Hand is a mobile and web-based accident and emergency response platform that alerts registered paramedics found within the geo-mapped area as well as classified hospitals in case of an accident.

As of August 2020, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) raised an alarm over increased road fatalities especially with pedestrians, motorcycle riders and pillion passengers, being the largest number of casualties.
