Mother to missing Thika millionaire Julius Gitau has revealed troubling details about his last moments before he was reported missing.

In an interview with Daily Nation on Tuesday, October 20, Rosemary Wanjiru disclosed that the businessman was experiencing problems including business troubles and marital issues.

She noted that his businesses had experienced a 70% decrease in revenue due to effects of the Covid-19 on the economy.

She also revealed that auctioneers were constantly knocking on his doors with threats to liquidate his assets at a time when he was experiencing marriage troubles from his three wives.

"Gitau told me that he was having problems with suppliers. Five firms had even started sending auctioneers to his two general merchandise shops in Thika Town," stated Wanjiru.

The situation got worse when the issues drove him into depression due to the woes that were facing the businessman's family.

Wanjiru also noted that some of the suppliers had repossessed their stocks.

"Proud and stubborn, my son hates any form of embarrassment and has a very dry sense of humour, that is why those public tiffs with creditors were taking a toll on his mental health.," she added.

At the height of the turmoil on September 20, Gitau visited his mother's house for emotional support before being reported missing later.

The tycoon disappeared on Monday morning, September 21, without a trace with belief at the time being that he had committed suicide by jumping into a river.

Detectives, however, ruled out suicide at the river explaining that the spot where he might have committed suicide is busy and people would have seen him.

The businessman also left a not behind that has been rumoured that was not authored by him because the handwriting does not match his. An expert analysis on the matter is yet to be made public.
