A police officer was on Friday, October 23, found dead in his bedroom in Garden Estate, Nyahururu County.

Police reports indicated that Selina Wambui, the wife of police constable David Murai, detailed that she had found her husband had committed suicide.

Later in the day, officers visited the scene of crime and found the 35-year-old kneeling beside his bed with a rope tightly tied to his neck.

One side of the rope, however, was found tied to the bed.

Police officers have since arrested Wambui for questioning saying that she was in the house the entire night. At the same time, neighbours told the officers that the couple often had domestic squabbles.

They have since launched investigations into the matter and seek to know if the constable committed suicide or was killed.

Murai's body has since been taken to Nyahururu Hospital Mortuary.

The case came days a female police officer, Nancy Njeri, allegedly chopped off a lawyer's hand, leading to his death Sunday, October 18.

Initial reports indicated that the deceased had tried to rape the lawyer, something that the Law Society of Kenya have denied.

"Police in Makueni are complicit in the attempted murder of Lawyer Onesmus Masaku by Policewoman Nancy Nyeri.

"The two are known lovers and Njeri attempted to kill him after he refused to accede to her demands for marriage. Nancy Njeri should be arrested and charged," reads a statement from LSK chair Nelson Havi.
