A global survey released by Anholt-Ipsos has ranked what people like and don't like in 50 countries including Kenya based on perceptions and reputation.

Overall, Kenya ranked 47 out of the 50 countries polled in which over 20,000 respondents participated in the survey.

Kenya's reputational strengths are in the Culture and Tourism categories - driven by positive opinion about its excellence in sports and natural beauty.

However, Kenya has a negative perception of governance and immigration and investment categories. Respondents also have a low perception of rights and fairness in its governance and being a good place to work and live.

According to the report, Kenya ranks well in the peace and security category as well as sports but the country scores poorly in science and technology and employability categories.

Kenya's friendliness and welcoming nature also ranked well and so did the country's natural beauty.

The report indicated that there was an overall decline in the perception of nations’ reputations, including those that were ranked the top 10 NBI nations.

"While Germany retains the top position in the 2020 Anholt-Ipsos Nation Brands IndexSM (NBI) for the fourth year in a row, this year is marked by noticeable gains and losses," reads the reports.

20,019 interviews were conducted online in 20-panel countries with adults aged 18 and over.

"Data are weighted to reflect key demographic characteristics including age, gender, and education of the 2019 online population in that country," reads an excerpt from the report.

In addition, race and ethnicity were used for sample balancing in the U.S., UK, South Africa, India, and Brazil.
