The man is alleged to have fraudulently sold part of the Eldoret Bullet Factory land belonging to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)  to a Sacco that resulted in a land tussle with the government.

According to the charge sheet, the man is alleged to have forged a title deed for the land.

"The accused is charged with producing a false document purporting to be a letter signed by Col J.W. Michie and a deed plan No 380885 said to have been signed by a Mr J. Kibiru, a deed plan officer at Director of Survey’s office," the document read in part.

The controversial multi-million shilling land in Maili Tisa area has been claimed by the military which uses it for training

A the same time, the Leseru Tebeson Farmers Society has claimed ownership of the 2,000 acres of land near Moi Barracks claiming they had paid millions for the parcel.

The Sacco members further stated that they had been allocated the land by the Ministry of Lands in 2006.

The land has been a source of contention with the farmers securing orders to retain the land in a ruling by an Eldoret court in February 2020.

On the other hand, the National Land Commission had also ordered the revocation of any letters of award or title deeds and restoration of the land to KDF.
