For Simon Yakwai, marriage has been nothing short of torture after years of domestic abuse from his wife.
The 60 year old man from Kapenguria, West Pokot County says he has lived with the shame of being abused by his wife for so long, it has almost become normal.
The poultry farmer paints a picture to K24, of years of suffering under the cruel treatment from a woman he once thought to be in love with.
Adding to the violence, Simon says the woman abandons him and their five children days on end her whereabouts unknown to him.
Simon says he has had enough. He is now asking authorities to intervene and take legal action against his wife.
He claims that the wife has inflicted on him bodily injuries several times, at some point even pouring hot water on him.
At one point the man says he got into a physical fight with the wife but despite the fact that his wife was in the wrong, he is the one who got arrested, spending three months in jail.
