The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has written a passionate letter to all 2021 candidates, urging them to avoid exam malpractices in upcoming tests.
In a letter dated Monday, December 14 and signed by acting KNEC CEO Mercy Karogo, the agency cautioned the candidates against being misguided into cheating in the exams.
Karogo stated that in previous years, candidates had been misguided by their teachers, parents and classmates.Education PS Belio Kipsang consults with KNEC acting CEO Mercy Karogo at an education forum in 2019File
“These people mistakenly think that they are helping you, but instead they are exposing you to suffering through loss of examination results,” Karogo stated.
She warned that the council would not hesitate to cancel examinations in case of cheating.
"Results will only be given for a candidate's own honest efforts," Karogo stated.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will commence on Monday, March 22, 2021, and end on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will start on Friday, March 26, 2021, up to Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Education CS George Magoha is currently in the UK where he will oversee the printing of both exams.
Magoha was accompanied by a team from the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
All schools are expected to reopen on January 4, 2020.
President Uhuru Kenyatta warned parents against failing to comply with the January school reopening directive and tasked the Ministry of Interior to enforce the directive during the Jamhuri celebrations.
“To guarantee that no child is left behind, I hereby direct and order as follows; That the Ministry of Interior shall, through all chiefs, account for all children within their jurisdictions," the president stated.President Uhuru Kenyatta speaking during the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium on December 12, 2020Filechild
