Kenyatta University Announces Reopening Dates

Kenyatta University has announced new reopening dates for its newly admitted and continuing students in line with the resumption of learning in January 2021.

In a notice dated December 30, 2020, the university urged students reporting to the school to adhere to all set health protocols in the fight against Covid-19.

"All the newly admitted students reporting for face to face teaching and learning will be expected to sign the declaration forms to abide by the health and safety rules and regulations.

"Students will be required to report with at least two re-usable/ washable face masks and ensure the wearing of the same at all times," the notice reads in part.

The opening dates for students were categorised by the institution as follows;

For face to face teaching and learning groups; finalist students in the School of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy for completion of studies for the second semester, 2019/2020, will resume between January 2, and January 3, 2021, along with continuing students in the same faculties for the commencement of their third semester.

Also reporting on the same date will be the newly admitted students in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Architecture, BSC (FN&D) and third-year Nursing students.

Continuing fourth-year full time and part-time students will resume on January 4, 2021.

January 9 and January 10, 2021, will be for the arrival and registration of newly-admitted first-year full-time and part-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, all continuing Certificates, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and PhD students.

For online teaching and learning groups, only second and third-year full-time and part-time students will commence their learning on January 4, 2021.

Digital school students (second trimester October 2020 intake, and third trimester 2019/2020 for continuing students will commence with online registration of new and continuing students from January 4 to February 5, 2021. Online registration of first-year students (who reported in October 2020) will be from January 18 to February 12, 2021.

Virtual registration of newly admitted first-year students (2020/2021) into the Continuing Education Programme (CEP) will be conducted between January 4 and January 6, 2021. January 7 to January 13, will mark the period for online registration of units for all year groups.

Online learning and teaching will commence on January 11, 2021.
