"I intend to go back to my profession in ocean governance in the Western Indian Ocean region which will not allow me to participate in politics and will hopefully allow me to serve my country in a different capacity," she noted

She also thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity to serve under the Jubilee regime.

She attributed her legacy to the community projects she had initiated in Kiambu County, primarily her home residence of Kabete Constituency.

Furthermore, she also pointed out that her legacy extends to the legislative proposals that she was a part of.

A section of netizens also lauded her efforts and projects within the County.

"You have discharged your duties very diligently. You have left an indelible mark in all you have done. You have been an MCA with a difference. You redefined the position. Go for your dreams and concur the oceans. Once a leader, always a leader.

"I admired your clarity of thought. Dedication to the calling of public service and results that would benefit the public we serve.

"For all your endeavors to serve your country ..may your contributions be noted and help to increase your vision," some of the comments read.

Waweru becomes the second MCA to resign months after Makueni MCA Kelvin Mutuku resigned from his elected position.

He made the move in preparation for his appointment as the County clerk.

It’s a rare occurrence for elected leaders to call it quits from politics and pursue other careers.

In most cases, politicians are known for resigning after being offered another position. Notably, Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter quit his senate position for the CS role in 2015.
