Police recently also arrested four suspects in Ruaka Estate, Kiambu County, who had allegedly used an online dating site to lure, kidnap, torture and rob men.

The three men used their female accomplice to bait men online who would then be invited to her house.

They would then be held hostage and threatened and beaten before they were forced to drive into ATMs and withdraw money from their bank accounts.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation also warned of rising cybercrime cases in Kenya. Several arrests have been made by DCI of imposters and scammers.

They have made arrests of syndicate members running operations through WhatsApp and others stealing from unsuspecting buyers in Nairobi CBD.

This comes at a time when the government is tightening its watch on fraudsters online. Police have warned Kenyans and foreigners to be wary of fraudsters online.
