Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has said that she is elated after President Uhuru Kenyatta fulfilled a Ksh300 million promise.

While sharing images of the progress of the project, Waiguru noted that she had requested the Head of State to construct Wang’uru stadium which he agreed.

She further noted that she was pleased with the progress of the project so far.

"The role of sports in a community cannot be understated.

"My request to His Excellency the President to have Wang’uru stadium upgraded was granted and I am happy to report that the work is progressing well," stated Waiguru.

The 15,000 capacity stadium includes a VIP section and steel pavilion stands.

The VIP pavilion consists of builders works in elements including substructure, reinforced concrete superstructure, roofing, walling, doors and windows among others.

The pavillion stand involves concrete substructures, steel superstructure including roofing, and roofing of earth terraces in a steel roof structure.

Waiguru shared an artistical representation of the complete stadium showing a car park and a sitting area complete with roofing.

The photos the governor shared showed incomplete terraces and stadium stands which Waiguru noted were on the path to completion.

The project, which commenced in September 2020, was expected to take six months to complete.

Uhuru unveiled the project in early 2020 during his tour in Kirinyaga County.
