President Uhuru Kenyatta’s long-serving bouncer Bill Arocho was dragged into the chaotic Matungu by-election mess that saw a businessman clobbered until his clothes were ripped off.
According to the video and footage from the scene, many Kenyans claimed the undressed man was Arocho due to the similarity in appearance.
However, the security expert was quick to dispel the reports, explaining that he was entangled in the chaos.
“Am safe and sound having my lunch. Kindly dispel and ignore rumours circulated by well known United Democratic Alliance bloggers that I have been clobbered In Matungu. Headed to the tallying centre in a few."
“Matungu Parliamentary by-election is a battle between ODM and ANC, who clearly supports BBI; the rest are battling for poor third position as per now,” he stated.
Though Arocho is not part of the Presidential Escort, his closeness with Uhuru has seen him be hired to supplement the work of the Presidential Escort team when the need arises.
In past engagements where President Kenyatta has had to interact with the public, the bouncer can be seen at the front clearing the way and ensuring no one comes close to the president or his car.
Having been with Uhuru for over 10 years, Arocho named his daughter after the Head of State's mother; Mama Ngina.
The private security expert, is a twin brother to Radio Jambo presenter Fred Arocho, a popular football commentator.
The bouncer also renders his services to other VIPs and was part of the security team in BBI rallies in 2020.
During the Kitui BBI event, he protected Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria from being assaulted after he was kicked out by Governor Charity Ngilu.
He has served as TNA Nairobi branch vice-chairman and was part of the Jubilee Campaign team in 2017.
