The government has reaffirmed its preparedness in the administration of the national examination set to commence next week.
“As the government, we are ready to administer exams to our learners and candidates and effective measures have been put in place to ensure that this years’ examinations are able to be rolled out in an efficient and seamless manner and therefore it is all systems go,” said Cyrus Oguna, Kenya’s Government Spokesman.
He highlighted that the ministry of interior and local authorities are collaborating to ensure the process is well coordinated.
"This is a multi-agency activity that brings together different agencies and stakeholders, with the sole purpose of ensuring success and efficiency during the exam period. Among the infrastructure that has been set up include the establishment of command and control center to facilitate ease of communication and response during the examination period” he remarked.
1,066,986 candidates are expected to sit for KCPE examinations set to run from March 22 to March 24, while 699,745 candidates will sit for KCSE examinations set to begin on March 25.
Oguna further addressed the concerns relating to insecurity in certain areas, but said that the examinations will not be interrupted.
“Examinations will be conducted across the country, including Kapedo that had issues to do with insecurity. Kapedo is perhaps one of the safest places now and examination centers have also been established even in Kapedo,” he added.
According to Oguna, candidates in areas like Baringo that are prone to floods have been transferred to other centers to ensure that they do not miss out on the exams.
