The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced candidates who have been shortlisted for different job positions on March 18, 2021.
Qualified candidates are set to go for interviews at NYS Headquarters Nairobi, Thika Road with different roles having varying dates starting from March 29 to April 19, 2021.
The notice made to the public indicates that there are 5164 candidates who are expected to attend the scheduled interviews.
The 2020 applicants are advised to confirm whether they have been shortlisted and take note of the dates assigned for the interviews.
All the candidates are requested to carry with them an original National Identity (ID) card, academic professional certificates and any other testimonials.
The government also notes that all candidates will be expected to adhere to Covid-19 protocols.
The National Youth Service had advertised seven hundred and twenty-eight (728) positions in various cadres open to all Kenyan youths in the month of August 2020.
The largest shortlisted candidates are 517 for the driver's jobs, plant mechanics has 317, motor vehicle mechanics 366, the plant operators 746, plumber building technology 218, 43 carpenters, 442 electricians and 38 welders/fabricators interview candidates.
The list also has 24 spray painters, 37 motor vehicle electricians, 243 agricultural assistance, 229 cook, 240 bandsmen, 246 waiters, 113 tailors, 369 housekeepers, 184 secretaries, 126 accountants, 385 ICT, 281 supply chain management, candidates bringing the total shortlisted candidates to 5164.
Successful candidates after the interviews will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms.
The government has been keen on ensuring jobless Kenyan youths secure jobs especially the ones that require technical skills.
During the 2019-2020 budget, the government allocated Ksh13.2 billion for the National Youth Service which has so far employed thousands of youths.
The program also takes in volunteers who go through training and get equipped with technical skills which helps them secure jobs from other government institutions and the private sectors.
