The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is seeking to shift office from its current headquarters at Anniversary Towers, Nairobi.

In a tender notice dated March 16, 2021, the commission invited property owners to indicate their interest in selling an identified parcel of land for office development. In 2018, Chebukati had disclosed plans to move in a bid to save the taxpayers money and minimize disruptions at the CBD.

The tender specified that the land should be stable, located at least 20 kilometers away from CBD, and easily accessible by road networks.

“The land to be purchased should have a title deed with no any encumbrance and a leasehold of not less than 60 years. Its size should be approximately five acres and not steep,” the commission said.

Bidders interested in supplying the parcel of land were asked to present information indicating the price inclusive of taxes, lease period, and other expected charges.

“The property shall be serviced by the normal utility infrastructure such as electricity, water, and sewer,” the commission added.

They are also expected to submit a certified copy of the latest search done in the last month, a certified copy of the land rates clearance certificate, and evidence that the land is serviced by water, electricity, and a sewer line.

According to the tender, the deadline for submission of completed expression of Interest (EOI) documents is March 30, 2021 at 11:00 am.

"The Commission will shortlist the substantively responsive applicants, to whom the Request for Proposals for the Purchase of Land shall be sent," announced the commission.
