Kiss FM Presenter Felix Odiwuor popularly known as Jalang'o has offered income options for all those who have lost their livelihoods due to the closing of entertainment establishments in Nairobi due to Covid-19 regulations.
The media personality advised those affected to find means to leave Nairobi which is part of the one-zoned area together with Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru, and seek their living in other parts of the country that had relaxed regulations.
In the counties, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered bars be closed as he revised the curfew hours to 8 p.m. greatly affecting the hospitality and entertainment industry.
Jalang'o, in observing, that many artists had lost their source of livelihoods advised them to find bookings in the other towns.
"We have places opened and operating in Mombasa, Kisumu, Kisii, Kericho, Malindi. Just plan and go! They need your talent. Book your events out of Nairobi," he stated.
He noted that the May 29, end date that had been issued for the reviewing of the curfew hours was not assured that the curfew would be lifted and the regulations eased.
The radio presenter said that well-established artists had their houses closed due to rent arrears and many had fallen into depression due to lacking an income.
He advised artists to start small in the less established towns and also go to small gigs to make a living.
"Go accept the small pay, small gigs, and build a new audience! Eldoret, Kitale, Kakamega, Busia are all opened. Just go," he reiterated.
He further advised the artists to observe the Covid-19 protocols so as not to spread the disease in the less affected counties.
Following the lockdown orders issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta, notable personalities took to social media to ask the government to unlock the country in a campaign dubbed #UnlockOurCountry.
The celebrities noted they were struggling to sustain their families because they could not work due to the lockdowns and curfews.
