A meeting between Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli and Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has left many Kenyans talking.

In a statement he shared on Sunday, April 18, Atwoli disclosed that he had hosted five leaders at his home in Kajiado on political consultative meeting.

Other leaders who attended the event include Siaya Senator James Orengo, former Nairobi County Aspirant Peter Kenneth, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe.

The meeting comes at a time when the political landscape has been experiences tectonic realignments ahead of the upcoming 2022 general elections.

The meeting, however, split Kenyans regarding a likely political line up in the making - even as the country continues to grapple with the pandemic.

Some argued that the team was headed for better political days ahead, while others criticised the leaders for holding strategy meetings at a time when Kenyans are facing gruelling economic hardship.

"Was just chilling then boom my leader posted something positive," stated a twitter user in response to a post shared by Senator Orengo.

"From the combination, I am sure that everything in this country politically is planned, and therefore no confusion come next year," added another.

A majority of Kenyans, however, criticised the leaders for advancing their political desires at the expense of the normal citizenry.

"I also want to visit you and consult on matters job security among youth during this pandemic...which is your convenient day sir?" asked one Kenyan.

"I can see all the Kenyans that matter have been vaccinated against Covid-19," added another.

Some were, however, concerned over Tuju's health.

This was in reference to Tuju's recent admission that he had been struggling with health issues since he  was involved in a road accident on February 12, 2020.

Tuju was heading to the burial service of the late President Daniel Arap Moi when the accident happened.

"I thank God as I am improving. I broke 18 bones, 17 have completely healed only one is not yet. I am still struggling with it, however, I believe that I am doing better," Tuju said at the time.

Meanwhile, the debate is raging over who will be the likely joint presidential contender should Jubilee and ODM agree to work together.
